~Happy Fall!~

Happy fall from Cotto and her 11 piglets!! 🙂 They’re just 4 weeks old and having a blast playing  in and around their “Dome Hut” made from the base of a recycled wind turbine wing!

We’re all relieved that farrowing is now finished until the next farrowing in January! It  all went pretty well, thanks be to God!!! 🙂

We’ll be the doing the first winter farrowing since producing organic hogs for Organic Prairie this Jan., so that should be interesting! A challenge for sure, since none of our buildings are insulated! I hope that it won’t be too cold!!!!

Life is never boring down on the farm!

About Callens Honey Farm

We live on a small family farm located in S.W. Minnesota, near the South Dakota border. The source of our honey is from white and red clover. The honey appears as liquid gold in color. Our honey is extracted using a hand cranked centrifugal force extractor. Then the honey is screened once into a holding container from which we later fill the small honey bottles. We do not heat treat the honey nor add any other ingredients. Pure and natural is our Minnesota honey! What could taste better?

  1. I’m afraid our ram lambs will have gotten frisky before we sold them, and, if so, we’ll be looking at winter lambs. Even in Ohio, a February lamb can be a challenge! We’ll be haunting the big barn when the time comes! Hope your piggies have no problems. Love from your Ohio family!
